• Etnawood

A Natural Wood Coffee Table : Etnawood

The Etnawood is a contemporary coffee table in natural wood.

The project emerged from the Etnastone collection, an earlier design using lava stone from the eponymous volcano. This time, these modern coffee tables, Etna, have a different skin, wood. Like former projects by Emmanuel Babled, Etna became the pretext to explore diverse prime natural materials while challenging production processes.

Etnawood tables are shaped by the union of different pieces of wood, based on experimenting with puzzling compositions. The fully handcrafted process allows endless customisation possibilities, from the diversified palette of natural essences, to their model and size. Every Etnawood table is a unique piece, ideal for living rooms.

This project is another successful collaboration with the Danish cabinetmaker Anders Lunderskov, with the certainty that forests are treated with respect during timber extraction and come with certification of the product’s origin. This wooden piece is produced with natural treatments and finishes.

  • Contemporary Marble Lighting : Supernova

    An Iconic Marble Lampshade

Supernova is a contemporary marble lamp made out of a thin layer of Carrara marble and available in three distinct versions.

An extremely light marble shade was created, calculated using a complex ‘centre of gravity’ algorithm to give magical balance.

Thanks to a new generation of sculptors and advanced robotic milling, it has been possible to create such a thin item and achieve this unique ceiling pendant marble lightening, suitable for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms for instance.

It feels natural to use the peculiar quality of the Carrara white marble: Carrara marble is characterised by its smooth and compact nature, ideal for this challenging realisation.

  • Contemporary Coffee Table : Quark

    Contemporary Coffee Tables

The Quark limited edition is a series of contemporary coffee tables, mostly for living room, manufactured in different materials such as marble, glass, bronze and wood.

this series of low coffee tables blends the exploration of materials with production techniques, to give birth to unique monolithic tables. The series’ name is a reference to a type of elementary particle, a fundamental constituent of matter.

Quark tables became the pretext to explore prime natural materials from their extraction to their transformation and to challenge each production stage. The knowledge acquired throughout the experience made it possible to develop an inclusive path, conscious of territorial reality and skills, where the project definition came to life through direct contact with the field.

Each version (see below) explores various finishes, offering different results for each specimen, enhancing the oneness of this production and the infinite identity they can reflect. The variety of the project reflects the diversity of humankind, in its traditions and abilities. For the designer, it is a passionate challenge each time, to combine traditional craft methods with the use of digital tools that are useful in reproducing the perfect grace of the Quark table curves.

  • Modern Glass and Marble Furniture and Lighting : Osmosi

Contemporary Marble and Glass Furniture and Lighting

Osmosi is a series of unique glass and marble vases, furniture and lighting. The project lies on the border between serial production and one-of-a-kind sculptures. Each piece is resolutely functional. By combining new technology with traditional craftsmanship in an entirely innovative way, a virtual fusion is made between marble and hand-blown glass.

These materials are put together with a precision that is only possible thanks to high-level digital technology.

    Osmosi – Furniture – Dior

The process begins with making the glass. The hand-blown form is then captured by a 3-D scanner. Through the digitalization of the form, the matching shape is CNC (computer numerical control) milled into the marble, creating two unique pieces that match each other perfectly. They are separate pieces, but each has no meaning without the other. They fit together through gravity alone. Like Cinderella and the glass shoe, there is only one unique piece of glass that can fit into one unique piece of marble. The effect is a perfect symbiosis between materials.

  • An Exclusive State of the Art Design Piece : Origin

    Contemporary Marble Collectible Design

Origin is a low table made from white Carrara marble, produced in Italy. Origin is a continuation of Emmanuel Babled’s exploration into producing new interpretations of classical materials and techniques. The heavy stone alludes to a perception of lightness.

Curved around the structure itself, the thin marble appears skin-like, tense and tight. This method allows the inside to become the outside, while the outside transforms inwardly. This creates a soft hole, the navel…the origin.

  • Cutting-Edge Marble Coffee Table : Libra

Contemporary Marble and Wood Coffee Table

Librastone : a Contemporary Coffee Table in Marble

Librastone limited-edition low tables rest on a curved base, balancing on one point. Made in Italy in white Carrara marble or brown tobacco stone, Librastone’s point of gravity is manipulated through the use of algorithmic software that allows the tabletop to achieve a perfectly horizontal position. The project is customizable in different materials following the same gravity-based principle.

This is an example of how Emmanuel Babled combines new technology with traditional craft techniques to obtain unexpected, almost magical design pieces.

  • Fine Modern Coffee and Dining Tables in Lava Stone : Etna Collection

    Contemporary Tables Design

The Etnastone collection (dining, coffee, side tables and gueridon) is named after the Sicilian volcano, a reference to the traditional craftsmanship in lava stone and ceramics found in the town of Caltagirone. This is one more case where Emmanuel Babled testifies to his bond with pure techniques existing only in one place.

The tables are a union of pieces of lava colored with delicate enameling, with the volcanic texture generating a unique material.

The design concept of this table consists in the assembly of elements like a puzzle. This particularity together with the fully handcrafted process make for infinite customization possibilities. Produced in collaboration with Made a Mano (Italy).

  • A Contemporary Lighting : the Digit Light

Modern Lighting in Ceiling Pendants and Standing Lamps

Inspired by 1960’s pop culture, the Digit breaks away from the traditional Murano style of chandelier. Each chandelier is composed of 23 spheres made of hand-blown glass.

These spheres are put together with the level of accuracy possible with computer technology, although the intentional impression is one of randomness.

Digit Light – Ceiling – Full White

The spheres barely graze one another, which highlights the singularity, harmony and solidity of the whole. Luminous and reflecting spheres are mixed together. The white spheres diffuse a soft light that is infinitely reflected by the coloured elements, resulting in joyful and celestial illumination, as if the spheres were floating in the air.

Digit exists in different sizes and in ceiling or standing versions, customizable in several colours. Each edition is limited and numbered.
