Shetland, a heathery, durable wool fabric, is new to the R&G textile Collection

Shetland is available in eighteen rich and soft, heathery colorways evocative of a Scottish moor.

This amazing fabric is woven with 100% pure new wool from the Shetland breed of sheep, which originated centuries ago on Scotland’s Shetland Isles. Pure new wool is wool that comes from the first shearing of a sheep and the yarn is not blended with the recycled wool or any other fibers.

Shetland is made at one of the few vertical mills left in the world. Every step (carding, spinning, dying, weaving and finishing) is all done on premises. Much of the equipment is very old and that’s what gives the fabric its special unique quality.

Shetland can be used as comfy upholstery, slipcovers, and just about any other textile application you can think of, including draperies.
